2015 up-grade yourself. Quote.
'Be the best up-dated version of yourself this year. Delete that old data you don't need and up-grade to a better model of yourself.'
Compassion in children
I believe compassion is so important to encourage in children. In 2015 make it one of your aims as a parent to be encouraging compassion in your children. Give them praise for showing spontaneous compassion, whether it be towards a person or an animal or any living being. Feeling something similar to what another human or creature might be feeling is part of human nature and should never be lost. Sensing when someone needs a hug, caring for a dog scared by a storm. Fanning someone who feels hot. These are all simple but important characteristics that build a more compassionate, mindful society. If you sense your child may be lacking in this area, don't scold them for it but gently help them to see the other persons point of view and how they may be feeling. Hurtful, thoughtless comments and actions come from a lack of compassion in humanity. So let's all as parents and carers make it our aim to encourage compassion in our children for a more peaceful world.

Shanti yoga- words to live by
My first duty is to myself.
My second duty is to my family.
My third duty is to my work.
My fourth duty is towards society.
My fifth duty is to the world.
I do my duty with love and happiness, care and joy.

Five ways to stay and feel younger without chemicals and surgery
No 1. Drink herbal teas occasionally.
No2. Forgive others and just stop thinking about how angry they make you feel. 'Let it go'.
No3. Find what relaxes you and do it for yourself; run, do yoga, paint, read or whatever.
No 4. Eat mostly foods from the earth.
No 5. Keep in touch with friends and family.

Allowing creativity in young children.
Let me use my own hands mummy
They know what to do
Let them create and play and test ideas. I have my own ideas too.
If you use your hands mummy it might look better than mine. Them I won't use my hands anymore because I'll think they don't work as well.
Let me use my own hands mummy do you can see what I can do. I'll show you what I'm thinking and all the 'doing' will make my hands stronger mummy so next time I won't need any help mummy and I can shout out, " look what my hands and head did mummy, all by themselves!"

Empathy is the key
Empathy = Morality
'Otherisation' destroys empathy and kindness. Targeting people they see are not in their group. No religious morality leads to lack of empathy. Empathy is innate. Empathy equals more morality and rationality. Fewer people are dying in wars than in the past and this needs to continue.

'The night before christmas' yoga for kids story
Warm up: Hands together in prayer, breathing in and out and circle of love around body. Bring hands together and pretend you are in a cold country and warm your hands up in front of the fire.
Begin in mouse pose (child pose) and read first paragraph- 'not even a mouse'. Stretch up into 'mountain pose' and 'waterfall' pose 'as you hang stockings'. 'snug in their beds' is plank pose.
Frog pose for 'sugar plums' and hands rounded over head to finish.
Wearing a 'kerchief' and 'night 'cap' is sky warrior.
Then wind down to plank, then frog to sun salute and mountain pose (as you spring to feet). Star pose for 'tore open shutters'. Bow pose for sleigh.
Reindeer- deer pose but with hands as antlers. Bicycle legs to 'dash away'
and 'dash away' again with Earth warrior.
'They flew' in 'aeroplane pose' Earth warrior.
'Prancing and pawing' in downward dog pose.
Star pose for 'St Nicholas'.
Triangle pose for 'head to his foot'.
Dancing warrior for 'toys flung on his back'
Butterfly pose for 'beard like snow' actions. Breathe and hands circle, open chest (and the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.)
Belly breathes- 'for shook like jelly'
and twist of his head- neck stretch side to side.
'plank' up the chimney he rose' and up to mountain pose.
Bow pose 'sprang to his sleigh'
up into 'camel' then up on knees with arms outstretched- "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night."

yoga for kids
Benefits to children:
In our fast paced world it assists children to calm their thoughts,
centre themselves for learning and learn how to ‘just be still’ for a
moment. This will assist children in
focusing their minds for the day and will give children skills for life- long
learning and stress reduction.
Yoga, perceptual motor skills and fundamental movement
skills give children greater awareness of their body, their physical strength,
balance, flexibility, better blood flow and breathing.
Yoga can be tailored to individual learning styles and along
with movement activities (perceptual and sensory) help to activate the brain
and coordinate the body and the brain together.
This in turn supports later reading skills, thinking skills and hand-eye
coordination for writing skills.
The creative side of children can come to life as they
pretend to be animals and natural living things.
Children become more confident and benefit from a
non-competitive form of fitness and well-being.
